What I learned in Sociology

What I learned about Sociology was very surprising I didn't expect to learn so much about society before onto now. Well at first with the video of Sherry Turkle and how society cannot live without their cellphones. And how technology has made people isolate their self towards others and society. I had a picture that society was not interacting but i wasn't expecting as how it is now. And how back in the day people use to talk face to face it wasn't a problem. How technology has made a change in society the more it made realize it true.

  I notice with ever chapter we did the media is always make what society is its the peer pressure. Sociology is pretty much us the human and our social behavior. And what society is surrounded in like with the norms and the class. I learned how many different class their is I thought I was in lower class but I  notice that since my parents came to the united states. And they were a working in business which makes us in middle class. We did learn about class and the difference with in all those class which higher and which is lower. Another thing that caught my eyes is whatever your working show how much income you get which proves if they doing good in general. But if your a doctor or lawyer how your income is high making them upper class. But now if your retailer your in lower class.

 Another thing that caught my eyes in sociology is with religion and culture is always reflected. How far will education take you what leads you to a good job. And how we learn things from our parents they lead us of how we will go. Another thing is when we do our blogs about people wanting to be someone there not towards society. With the video we watch of how women feel pressure in society to be a model. When the models. But leads to women not accepting who they are focusing on how everyone else thinks.


    This class made me realize how society is viewed I Learned a lot about the difference in society.  Race is a big topic we talk about especially between blacks and Hispanic had a hard time to get along. But that was in the past with segregation . How laws were reflected when they both back in the day didn't have the same right for somethings. Another talk about the experiment of Stanford of how he was testing people of they reaction of pretending like they did a crime to see the behaviors of humans in a prison.  But many of those experimenters couldn't any more. Another experiment is when the teacher ask question to a student to test  to see how many answer they get wrong so he get electric shock.

  All these things we learned in this class was amazing I didn't expect to learn so many things in just four months. Sociology will always gave a lot of experiments of society is. With the history and how it is now it made notice that history takes it of how its actually viewed now. And i wont forget what  I learned this class interesting topics that leads towards the whole world with class and religion  Upper or lower and experiments  sociology has open the doors towards history and I enjoy it.

Race and ethnicity chapter ten

This article is about how there was discrimination between blacks and Hispanics. The most popular are the american they had more control. They both blacks and white have different views when it comes to the studies with school and work. But yet again the Hispanics have not as much when it comes to school and employment. This tell us and relates towards social class like African american are lower class.The most crime rate would really point towards the blacks which points in the article and they have poor education and employment close to a very low income. In the article theirs a graph that show blacks and Hispanics rental rate during the 1989 to 2000's. And what it shows is that in rental between blacks and Hispanics and it has increased but in the 1989 but when it comes to 2000's it has decreased. Now it has grown  in society there is not as much segregation as their was in the future.

  Now in chapter ten this article can relates because it shows how power was really used with these to back ground they consider the blacks like they are not  able to do better then Hispanics. But now everything is equal there might be parts now in society that doesnt reflect as bad as before. But its a better understanding of what happen and what a change it made in society now.

Global poverty/People like us/ chapter 9

In the article "The Use of Global Poverty"  it tells us how people and in society live in different class. And how poverty is function with Americans for example the benefits between the poor and the rich people. There are different prospective that tells us about poverty and wealthy towards the western companies. And gender is reflected towards genders and how men get paid more then women do. Other countries produce low production the low wadges the are not high in there education end up being jobless. They point out the poor countries are china and Nigeria but china growing because the production of gas that they produce. The whole thing is related towards the world poverty and how the lower class brings  towards the western production.

    What can relate towards the article of The Use of Global Poverty is the video of People like Us: Social Class of Society. How it shows and proves and describes how class is in america and how we are surround in society. For Americans now having money it means having freedom to create your own living which proves where you fit in. This video proves how different people feel like with having family members or relatives in higher classes. Some in the middle class feel like people that are in higher class they feel ignored. When they feel like they do not bring the society attention like their not happy of where they are and where they stand. There was a women there who was in a lower class that try to change her self to a upper classes. Society always wanting to be accepted by  everyone because you want to fit in with everyone else.

  All this class leads towards everyone background with their family and education and also culture. Whatever you grow as a child especially your family background is what kind of class you are in the upper class or the lower class. Everyone is not the same but it proves who you are and what you are surrounded in society. In chapter nine of class and global inequality explains how Marx and Weber went through power in society.

Chapter 8 The Role of Deviance Within Social Structure

  In chapter eight I have learned about The Role of Deviance Within Social Structures which explains what  deviance means. Deviance means like a social connection towards socialization with norms and choices towards society and towards your culture.The word  Deviance has different meaning like it is used in power in social control and culture.


     Now the article that can be compared towards chapter eight is the Race and Class in American Criminal Justice System. This article among race with  black and white and how the whites more control then the blacks in court. And how the case was mostly focus on race not the level of class their in it all falls onto criminal justices. How the percentages of different race around world has affect about segregation in school. They say that more crimes happen with other when it comes towards criminal justices. How crimes are acting now and has bin taken in our society now and how much has it made a changed. Now all this is about a court case and how O.J Simpsons has bin has bin accused. This cases is reflected towards the Miranda vs Arizona.

   In my point of view is that there wasn't a lot of equality against race. It all leads to criminal case because of their background.

 

Socailization

 In the video Tony Porter: A call to men proves and shows the difference between men and women and how they are treated differently. And how this actually affects our socialization in society now and since we were kids until now. Tony Porter proves his point across and  how men have bin taught that they have to be tough and  not to be afraid of anything and to be in charge. While women have a different point of view and whatever the men have bin taught its not the same as  for women because women are view as  they have less value. The point that tony is proving is that when we are kids in school boys and girls bond played the same games together. But once we hit middle school or elementary the boys play in a different area and girls play in other certain area. Women are treated differently we are less aggressive and we don't have the same values as men do. Socialization all relates on peoples cultures and their beliefs and how we are pretty much what they bin raised in. But the video  A call to a men their socialization was all reflected how men have a man box how they act as men.

  Another video that can relate to is tony porter video is killing us softly 3: Advertising Image of women. This video proves to us how women are with the advertising and how other people view them. How women in young age they prove how they are and what they will be later on. How the beauty is proving to women in a young age. With advertising shows women and how much they have to change everything but has to be accept as how they are and who they are. And how many women get a lot of sickness for becoming something they really are not which takes them straight to a lot of sickness. With the advertising it tell s how women are and there beauty which takes them to fall on what their beauty are. Women are only acceptable when their young and skinny. With all this advertising its all over the world people see it everyday. But regardless if your a male or female it all leads to violence. With all this all proves that women go through a lot to be accepted which all lead to models you cant be gaining weight or have to be a certain way because you wont be accepted to be a model. Its all going be judge out in the media the way you are being something you not suppose to be which all reflects as model being a certain way. And how children and teens girls have a higher  percentage of getting pregnant in a young age. And how ads gets a lot peoples attention which catches our eyes and makes us want it more like food. With that kind of  food ads its most likely to bring a higher percentage of obesity. There is a difference between men and women, men don't have to go through a cycle while women have to go through a cycle and when your model and you don't have the body you wont be able to be accepted. For men they wont worry and care as much as we women do which view a difference between both gender. Men don't get hurt or abuse or anything because when their little they have to strong and has to know to defend their self.

  In the article What does it mean to be human?  this article tell us about how humans and our reaction in society and showing people to survive in our society. We the people make what society is now how to live where to go how far can your education go we take all this. We lead our self to where society is now and how to survive towards socialization. How their is a difference between men and women their is a difference in between both genders. In the society we live in we learn to communicate with others which is social with different countries and religion. How our cultures makes us bond and reconnect and another thing is it makes us view what society is till this day. With all this we learn we experience and made as view and explains all this is Max Weber. And how in chapter one it explain us how Max Weber  he tried to make sense towards our modern society and traditional.

Five Faces of Oppression/Power/The Milgram Experiment

 What I learned towards the video of The Milgram Experiment is how strangers were tested in a experiment that one has to be a teacher and the other person has to be the learner. And how the study was all about the learning behavior towards the people in this experiment, every time they had the wrong answer they got electric shock but really they didn't get shock they were recording it all to see the reaction towards the people in the experiment. The whole point of this experiment is to see the beneficial of finding the knowledge towards society. They compared it to towards the Nazi with Germany like whatever they were told to do to do it. What I think is the person is responsible through the pain and torture they were going through.The pressure was on to do what authority ask you to do.

  But another thing that  reflects towards  the experiment is the article of the five faces of oppression. As you can oppression is when they make others feel like their less then other humans. Iris Manor Young used the expression the five face because their different kinds of oppression that is used. Their pretty much setting a certain country like the African Americans towards the united states. They weren't able to interact towards each other. This proves how other countries views others in society. Witch reflect towards cultures and religion and peoples sexuality. The point of view of this article is regardless what background or who you are it reflects towards violence. 

My point  that is showing towards the article and the experiment is all reflected towards powers. Like this was reflected towards power in authority how a person isn't able to do for themselves we its physical or mental. Power is used in human experience whether its in a group we have power but as much power the we have in the whole world.  How i can reflect to this when I went to a class trip in high school and how we had to see that the laws are used and are powerful then us. Because regardless what that person did the people are going to choose wither you are guilty are not guilty of what that person did in situation by crime.

The Meaning of Social Control

 This article is mostly reflected towards society and how different methods can bring a reflection towards society. Pretty much the people react in society. And how the violence reflect towards social control. Society towards hard and difficult situations witch can reflect towards family and friends.Sociologist present that society proves about people individual history and how society and how our personal life is reflected as the history of life. A German sociologist proves in his point of view that can identify the human social action witch reflects towards people culture or religion. In chapter four is present the macro level in social structure and how its reflected towards the sociologist point of view.

      Another thing that reflects towards the article The Meaning of Social Control towards the chapter is how technology has reflect society and how many people are not social with the person they in a relationship in. They not really able to connect while there together. And how cellphones made a change to connect to family members in others countries. This proves how phones and the technology now change the world and the people to what the society is right now. Another thing that this reflect is the health care of workers and how Africans are living in towards cellphones were a surprise in communication industry. With all these things that are happening towards society everyone is controlled  and society and reflect to other people life we make what society is now.  Social structure is what is our everyday life which connects to another person social structure or as they say there person life.

Well what I mostly like to do in my life time is play music. I'm pretty much into music especially art. I've bin doing this all my life this is pretty much how you really know me. I love sports it makes me feel better and gives me a lot of energy. Pretty much what makes me the person who I am now is music and the people who are in my life. My experience that makes you notice who I am in  life. My biggest influence in life is music its always bin there and makes me who I am now. My goals in life is finishing everything I started and keep going into the finish line.

The Body Ritual article

From the reading of The Body Ritual Among the Nacirema  is basically about how anthropologist has view people's action in different situations.Theres different beliefs of how relationships and social life were reflected at that time. The holy mouth man is something that they belive in that reflected their their bodies.  The person who knew about this situation was professor Linton. He is one who was mostly experiment towards the human body. The holy mouth men was a torture towards many people as I said its a sickness that people reflected towards the natural reproductive disorder. What I thought about this article is how thy went through a lot especially when it comes to giving food to there child. In my point of view I feel like there was a lot reflecting women and how they couldn't give there in born babies food.

Experiment of the video of prisoners

The video that I just saw was about a expierment of people acting as they being put in to jail. Witch The prison that they used was the Stanford prison. They did the studies towards different people who got paid for faking to be prisoners for a experiment towards sociology. They wanted to check their behavior in a actual cell. The studies lasted about 3 weeks and a lot couldn't even stay there for long because they actually thought that the  experiment was actually to much. What I thought about this video was that it s very interesting but at the same time I felt bad they actually went through all that and by the look that video it's like a lesson they learn if they ever do expierence that in real life . Some even got tired and curse them out thinking they were actually harmed.  I thought during that decade they knew what they were doing with experiment. I was surprised by the views of that video but it prove how sociology experiment works and towards  my reaction it was unexpected. But has proven its part of the reaction towards the guys as prisoner. It proves the guys that acted like prisoners how it really feels like to be behind bars.
